Ya'at'eeh!
The Churchrock Chapter House is located east of the Churchrock Estates near the junction of State Route 566 and the old U.S. Route 66 (NM Road 118), generally ten miles east of Gallup, New Mexico. The Churchrock Estates, formerly Indian Village Housing located in the Churchrock Community was once used to house employees form the Fort Wingate Army Depot during World War II. The homes have been demolished and new homes have been built on the site.
The Churchrock Chapter conducts monthly meetings to keep residents informed; residents have a forum to express their opinions to their Navajo Nation Council Delegate or to decide on matters concerning their chapter.
Today the Churchrock Chapter is home to the more than 2,900 + members, and the Navajo Nation's 1st Casino, Fire Rock Navajo Casino located just 3 miles west of the Chapter. The Churchrock Chapter is also the largest Chapter in the Eastern Agency in terms of Navajo population.
Churchrock Chapter is also home to well known Navajos: The late Ed Lee Natay, fmr. Chapter President; Fmr. Vice-Chairman, Fmr. Speaker of the Navajo Nation Council and Council Delegate Edward T. Begay; Fmr. McKinley County Commissioner & Chapter President Ernest Becenti Sr.; Fmr. McKinley County Commissioner Ernest Becenti Jr.; Navajo Code Talkers Albert Smith and George Smith
